Jim Leonard
As Data Center Operations Specialist at Oppidan, Jimsupports the operations of Oppidan’s data center developments, helping ensure critical facilities perform reliably and efficiently. His responsibilities include developing processes and procedures, managing preventive maintenance agreements, coordinating site repairs, troubleshooting incidents, and overseeing sequences of operation for critical equipment. Jim also supports commissioning, document turnover, site evaluations, and coordination between construction, development, and operations teams to help ensure a seamless transition from project delivery to ongoing operations.
Jim brings more than 30 years of data center industry experience to Oppidan, with extensive expertise in critical facility management, commissioning, direct-to-chip and high-density cooling, and data center operations. Throughout his career, he has developed a strong track record of evaluating facilities, troubleshooting complex operational challenges, and helping transition data centers to fully operational functionality.
Jim attended the University of Minnesota and is actively involved in his community. He serves as an HOA Board President and regularly volunteers with The Retreat in Wayzata and Bravo Zulu House, which supports veterans experiencing PTSD and addiction. He also volunteers in support of an all-women’s facility currently in development and mentors men through job and life experiences. Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife, Amy, their three adult children, Riley, Clay, and Ally, and their dog, Phoenix. He also enjoys walking, boating, kayaking, and volunteering.
