Red Rock Senior Living is now open in Woodbury
Red Rock Senior Living of Woodbury has been open for ten weeks, but only about half of the 77 apartments there have been filled to date. But that’s okay with Executive Director Jackie Juan.
See, after months of construction and preparation for the opening, she’s simply happy to have residents calling Red Rock Senior Living home.
“It’s so nice to hear laughter and to hear people here now,” Juan said. “We’ve grown comfortably, which has been nice.”
Located off of Century Avenue in the western section of the community, Red Rock Senior Living offers independent living, assisted living, memory care and care suites options for residents. The facility is part of the Ebenezer system, and owned by Oppidan. It’s the first Ebenezer facility in Woodbury.
Red Rock Senior Living offers one and two bedroom apartments, as well as studio apartments. In addition, there is a dining room where residents can get their meals, a movie theater, a fitness room, and a craft room.
The housing is set up to meet the various needs of seniors, particularly as they age. For instance, Juan said, someone may move into an independent living apartment, but then remain there if they bridge over into the assisted living program if and when that need arises.
The six care suites are designed to be temporary housing for someone who may need it, perhaps after a surgery or cancer treatment. People who might benefit from using the care suites may need nursing home-type care, but are not necessarily in need of being permanently placed in a nursing home, Juan explained.
And, there is even an apartment that visiting family or friends can rent on a night to night basis.
Red Rock Senior Living offers its residents a list of daily programs — everything from exercise classes to bingo. It’s kind of its own little community within a community.
“It’s a big sense of community here,” Juan said. “Everyone kind of takes care of each other. They’re even pushing their tables together at dinner so they can eat together.”
Red Rock Senior Living celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 19, with a open house from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Visitors were treated to a delicious menu of foods prepared on site — good stuff like mini pork tenderloin sandwiches and sausage stuffing balls — and they will be able to tour the facility, as well.
