Cool Offices: Tennant renovated a corporate campus in Eden Prairie for its new HQ
Tennant Co. relocated its headquarters from Golden Valley to a 40-acre campus in Eden Prairie in June.
The 150-year-old manufacturer of cleaning equipment renovated a five-story, 162,750-square-foot building to highlight the company's story, brand and products, while limiting its environmental impact.
St. Paul-based architecture firm BWBR worked with Tennant to modernize the new workspace, turning the 1980s-era corporate facility into a space that added color and post-modern Scandinavian design elements.
Tennant was focused on collaboration in the new office, therefore each floor has a "neighborhood." These centralized social spaces are meant to encourage incidental contact that leads to increased creativity and innovation.
Equity was also a factor behind many of the decisions in the workplace's design. The new space reduced closed offices by 80%, which gives employees access to more natural light and other amenities. Furniture was selected to promote personal health. Workstations have sit-to-stand functions.
