OPPIDAN RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS INDUSTRY AWARD FOR ITS SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITY IN NAPA VALLEY

The Watermark at Napa Valley selected from elite pool of Merit Award winners

Minneapolis, Minn. – July 9, 2021 – Judges for the 2021 Gold Nugget Awards have named Oppidan’s The Watermark at Napa Valley as a Grand Award winner for Best Service Enriched Senior Community-Independent Living/Assisted Living/Memory Care. The Gold Nugget Awards honors architectural design and planning excellence and draws more than 600 entries from throughout the United States and internationally. The Watermark at Napa Valley was chosen from the elite pool of Merit Award winners.

Developed by Oppidan, a Twin Cities-based national property development firm, The Watermark at Napa Valley (4055 Solano Ave., Napa, CA 94558) opened in 2020 and features contemporary California design and architecture, with influences of the rustic, yet sophisticated, French farmhouse style that invites a comfortable indoor/outdoor lifestyle. This 195,000-square foot senior housing community boasts 151 independent and assisted living apartments, as well as 22 residences specially designed for those who can benefit from a secure, residential-styled environment with cutting-edge memory care programming. It’s operated by Watermark Retirement Communities, a nationally recognized innovator in senior living.

The judges noted The Watermark at Napa Valley was a beautiful example of what senior communities should strive to be. In communities for older adults, it’s a challenge to strike a balance between sophisticated and comfortable. The exterior design is contextually responsive and complementary to its location. The interior is stylish and welcoming with many amenities and destinations throughout, flowing seamlessly to the outdoor environment.

“At Oppidan, we create world-class senior living communities that allow older adults to age gracefully and continue to thrive,” said Joe Ryan, Oppidan CEO. “Receiving both the Gold Nugget Award and the Grand Award is an honor, and a true testament to our vision and partnerships.”

Now in its 58th year, GNA is the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind in the nation. It honors design and planning achievements in community and home design, green-built housing, site planning, commercial, retail, mixed-use development and specialty housing categories.

“Gold Nugget Award winners reflect our industry’s best, brightest and most innovative architects, planners and builder/developers,” said Judging Chairman and Gold Nugget ceremonies administrator Lisa Parrish.

Oppidan is a leader in senior housing development. In addition to The Watermark at Napa Valley, Oppidan is in the process of developing additional senior housing communities in California, and has developed six Pillars Senior Living Communities throughout Minnesota (Minneapolis, White Bear Lake, St. Paul, Excelsior, Mankato and Grand Rapids).
