Hermantown Senior Living Project gets Final Approval
A developer has received final approval to bring 110 new senior living units to Hermantown in 2022.
The City Council signed off on The Pillars of Hermantown last week, allowing Twin Cities developer Oppidan to move forward with the three-story project at the corner of Maple Grove and Lavaque roads.
Construction at the 10-acre site is scheduled to begin in April 2021 and is expected to take about 16 months, the city said. When complete, the development will offer independent, assisted, and memory care suites, along with features such as a fitness center, salon, chapel, theater, outdoor spaces and heated underground parking.
The project was scaled down from its original plan, known as The Arbours of Maple Grove, which would have included a four-story senior living complex, 18 single-family homes and several fourplexes for people 55 and older. Opponents said those plans were too dense for the site.
