Minnetonka-based Oppidan Investment Co. is in the process of buying 10 acres of land in Minot, N.D., for a 95,000-square-foot retail development on the site. Oppidan has been drawn to deals in North Dakota amid the state’s oil boom. Tenants for the project have not been announced yet.

“As Minot continues to recover and rebound from last year’s devastating floods, there’s a great need for additional retail stores and services,” said Joe Ryan, president of Oppidan, in a statement. “We’re pleased to play a role in Minot’s recovery and future growth.”

Ryan said that construction would start on the site in late 2012.

Oppidan began construction on the 180,000-square-foot Southgate retail center in Minot in September. The project is slated to open in August 2013 and will include Gordmans, Cash Wise Foods, Cash Wise Liquor, Cash Wise Express Gas Station, Petco, and Shoe Carnival as tenants.
