Ebenezer Care Center Adult Day Program

The Pillars Fund acted at the Ebenezer Care Center Adult Day Program last week bringing the MN zoo’s Zoomobile to their site. The Minnesota Zoomobile and its team travel to schools and communities throughout Minnesota providing an educational and entertaining environmental experience wherever they go. The Zoomobile worked with Ebenezer residents, Memory Care Unit in the Care Center, and Adult Day participants with dementia.

“Ebenezer Adult Day Program would like to thank The Pillars Fund for providing us with the opportunity to bring the MN zoo’s Zoomobile to our site. The Zoomobile allowed our participants to experience nature up close in an intimate way that they would not have otherwise had the opportunity to do. We had the opportunity to see and learn more about an owl, tarantula, chinchilla, lizard and a rabbit. Our participants loved the hands-on aspect and being able to learn about the different types of animals that came in. The program stimulated their thoughts and generated many questions. Pillars provided us a chance to enhance our participants understanding of different animals from around the world and to hold and/or touch some of them if they wanted to. One of our participants tends to sleep a lot during the day, but he had a huge smile on his face when he was able to touch a tarantula. It was great to experience the energy and excitement that was present when the Zoomobile was here.”
