Congratulations to Oppidan Investment on 2015 Retail Redevelopment Award

Oppidan Investment Company received the Minnesota Shopping Center Association’s STARR award for the best retail redevelopment project of 2015. The Excelsior-based development company was recognized for its mixed-used development, Excelsior Marketplace, located at 440 Water Street in Excelsior.

The development includes a Kowalski’s Market store, Oppidan’s new corporate office, as well as an additional 8,803 square feet of hospitality and retail space. In the redevelopment category, MSCA’s judges considered projects of any size that exhibited an identifiable change of use of redeveloped property.

Peter Coyle represented long-time client Oppidan throughout the project, including through several years of meetings and negotiations with city planners and the Excelsior City Council. “Congratulations to Oppidan on this well-deserved award,” Coyle said. “The years of hard work by Oppidan’s team resulted in a sustainable site that redevelops and repurposes 52,114 square feet of empty retail and auto dealership space into a state-of-the-art, mixed-use retail center.”
